I had one of those babies. See, I was born in the RIGHT decade. Don't remember all the other stuff but definitely had the MG. Also don't remember the sound effects being quite as authentic.

To Felix, the commercials were ALWAYS better than reality :-) I never had the Gung-ho set, but had a friend who did. Marx did some things great. I always liked their helmets, I had a German helmet with a Luger and Potato masher grenade that was neat, but I always thought that while Marx made the best toy soldiers, their toy guns for the most part left much to be desired. I had a couple of their Thompsons that had a sound mechanism. It was great when it was new but the triggers broke off soon after you bought them and so you walked around making rat-a-tat noises. I always thought Mattel made better toy guns, their Thompson was much more durable and I had a metal .38 that lasted years. Wayne from Alabama

I've always thought, if I ever get enough money to have two collecting hobbies, toy guns would be it. I've always loved seeing the old metal western revolvers that my dad had as a kid. Even during the 80's, when I was about 6, I would run around the neighborhood with a toy Uzi. No plastic red muzzle cap on it either. Looked like the real thing. Best toy gun I ever had. Definitely a case of "They don't make em' like they used to".

Beau - perhaps the greatest toy gun ever is the Johnny Seven OMA (One Man Army)...7 guns in one!! I, unfortunately never had one, but a friend did.. Also, have you ever seen the 60mm Trench Mortar? That's another great toy gun... I'd love to have one for my cubicle at work!
