Tim-Mee Antique Store Find

Stephanie and I went antique shopping yesterday and I came home with a few more troops. You can see that these are the Tim-Mee Vietnam era figures. The nice things about these two are that they from the earlier sets that still included both the grenade thrower (instead of simply waving) and the marching figure. Notice on the marching figure that the tip of the rifle is still attached. I have several with the rifle tip broken off. I got the whole bag for $5. As I've probably mentioned before, these are the figures that I grew up with, and thus, have a special place in my collecting heart. I got more than I know what to do with, but I'm always on the hunt for them.

Great find! This is the 1st time I've seen the marching figure. I didn't know it existed. I used to buy the originals in the early 70's but don't remember the marching one.

I love antique shops because of the rare opportunity to find our beloved toy soldiers. I restarted my collecting of metals by visiting and buying out the collection of a dealer on 18th and 8th avenue in NYC.Another time on 80th street and the east side I found some ancient metals of Am Rev. I have yet to identify the manufacturer. It is the suprise .. ancient metals of Am Rev. I have yet to identify the manufacturer. It is the suprise! Regarding Timmee figures I love them because they can be converted to just about anything your imagination can create. The hand grenade thrower was changed into a fuzzy-wuzzy of Omdurman fame. Some tape, cotton and paint and they became background figures for the diorama!
